Let us learn how to construct a right-angled triangle if the measures of the length of one of its leg and its hypotenuse are known. To construct a triangle, first we shall draw a rough diagram which gives an idea where the sides would be. Let us consider an example.
Example:
Construct a triangle \(ABC\) which makes a right angle at \(B\), \(AC = 10 \ cm\) and \(BC = 8 \ cm\).
 
Solution:
 
Step 1: First, we shall draw the rough figure of the triangle \(ABC\).

Step 2: Draw a line segment \(BC\) of length \(8 \ cm\).

Step 3: At the point \(B\), draw \(BX \perp BC\).

Step 4: With \(C\) as centre and take \(10 \ cm\) as radius, draw an arc which cuts the \(BX\) at \(A\).
