Water as our lifeline
Water which is clean and fresh is a basic need of all human beings for various purposes such as drinking, cooking, washing and bathing. But unfortunately, this water is not available to all.
From the recent reports, it has been identified that more than one billion people have no access to safe drinking water leading to a large number of water-related diseases and even deaths. People, including children, walk long miles to fetch clean water. Based on all these crises, the world water day was declared on the 22 March 2005 by the General Assembly of the United Nations. The period 2005-2015 was proclaimed as the International Decade for action on "Water for life." During this decade, various efforts were put in to reduce at least half the number of people who do not have access to safe drinking water.
