A medicine is a substance which is used to prevent illness. Medicines play an important role in finding health issues and improving health quality.
What are the types of medicines?
1) Liquid (injection, drops)
Liquid medicines are in the form of solutions or mixtures, or syrup. It is given to the patients who have difficulty in swallowing medicines.
Tablet is a form of a solid unit dosage that is taken orally.
Capsules are solid unit dosages enclosed by water-soluble substances.
4) Topical medicines
Topical medicines are in the form of gel, cream, lotion, ointment and foam that is directly applied on the surface of the skin.
It is a medicated solid dosage in a conical/cylindrical shape, designed to be inserted into rectum or vagina that melts at the body temperature. It is another way to get in the drug to the body when oral administration is impossible.
An inhaler is a device containing medicine in the form of spray or mist that directly gets into the lungs.
- Should not take the medicine that is not suggested for you.
- Medicine can be dangerous when you take an indefinite amount.
- Store medicine in a place where the infant cannot reach.
