Evelyn Glennie is a Scottish multi-percussionist, who performs in international concerts with a variety of orchestras and instruments. Being hearing-impaired, she was determined to lead a normal life and pursue her interest in music. She learnt percussion instruments from her mentors Ron Forbes and James Blade. Though she could not hear music, she felt the music through the parts of her body. With sheer determination and hard work, she managed to master the art. She toured the UK when she was just sixteen. She graduated from orchestra to solo performances by the end of her course in Royal Academy of Music in London, where she scored the highest ever in history. She became the world's most sought-after multi-percussionist, playing about a thousand instruments and had a hectic international schedule. She received the prestigious Soloist of the Year award from the Royal Philharmonic Society in \(1991\). She has inspired physically challenged people, and she has given the enormous pleasure of the sound of music to millions.
