The lesson "Empowered Women Navigating the World" narrates the history of the "All-Indian Women Crew" who sailed around the world for 254 days on a sailboat called "INSV Tarini." The crew comprised of six women, and they were Lt. Commander Vartika Joshi, Lt. Cdr. Pratibh Jamwal, Lt. Cdr. Swathi Patarapalli, Lt. Aishwarya Boddapati, Lt. Sh. Vijaya Devi and Lt. Payal Gupta.

The crew set sail from Goa on September 10, 2017, and was flagged off by India's Defence Minister. They circumnavigated the globe in 254 days and anchored in Goa on May 21, 2018. During the record-breaking sail, the six female crew members defied several stereotypes.

When the crew members reached the shore, they were invited to interview. In the interview, the crew members shared the adventures they faced during the expedition. The crew members stated that none had ever been on a sailboat. They had undergone three years of training and gradually learned about sea expeditions. The crew members told the interviewer that their teamwork helped them overcome the 20-hour storm at sea. From the sea, they watched the spectacular Southern Lights. It was unusual to see such from the sea during those months. They also developed specific interests and continued to share images of delicacies such as panipuri and pastries. When the weather was nice, they read novels and prepared delicious foods using the few materials available on the boat. They celebrated Diwali at sea and three birthdays, including the boat's first birthday. Their journey is a tremendous inspiration for women to try new things, such as sailing worldwide.
