Americans are very outgoing and friendly people, they make small talk easily. They often greet even strangers with a smile and a nod. Handshake is a common form of greeting there if people don't really know each other or have only business relationship. When meeting friends or family, they hug each other warmly.

American people are known to be independent and confident. They aren't afraid to take chances — their ancestors moved to the New World not knowing what was waiting for them there. They had to be strong and self-standing.  Optimism and success orientation are also one of the most notable part of American character — they tend to look on the bright side.

They value prosperity and success that can be archived through hard work. American Dream — the ethos of the nation — includes freedom and opportunities for each end every person. So Americans are determined and ambitious.

Well-known American patriotism is deeply rooted in honor, loyalty, and bravery. They love their country and are proud of it. Of course, all people are not the same and there is no stereotypical American, but certain traits of national character are strong and noticeable.
