Experts on environmental science are raising the alarm on climate change. Truth be told, this is not the first climate change in world history — it has happened before, for instance, a number of ice ages.
However, those changes were different as they happened step by step and were the result of natural causes. The climate change we are seeing now is caused by humans. To make matters worse, the rate of this change is far more rapid than before.
Global warming endangers our planet. Rising temperatures lead to increasing sea levels and, therefore, flooding and storm surges, fire threats. Warming up effects not only wildlife, but humans too — for example, through agriculture.
The reason for this warming is greenhouse effect. In a nutshell — gases in the atmosphere (such as carbon dioxide and methane) trap the Sun's heat and make the planet warmer. Air pollution also contributes this process.
Governments of many countries are concerned about current environmental problems. To tackle climate change and its negative impacts, more than \(190\) countries adopted the Paris
Agreement. Its main goal is to try and substantially reduce global greenhouse gas emissions.
Also there are summits held regularly in order to join efforts in meeting the challenge of the climate change.
Planting more trees and decreasing deforestation can help slow down the galloping pace of the climate change.
