Prove that the following rational numbers are equal:
 
(i) \(-\frac{3}{7}\) and \(-\frac{18}{42}\) 
 
(ii) \(\frac{42}{7}\) and \(6\)
 
Solution:
 
Any two rational numbers \(\frac{a}{b}\) and \(\frac{c}{d}\) are said to be equal if i×i=i×i.
 
[Note: Enter the answer in alphabetical order.]
 
Proof:
 
(i) \(-\frac{3}{7}\) and \(-\frac{18}{42}\)
 
\(-3 \times 42\) \(=\) ......(1)
 
\(7 \times (-18)\) \(=\) ......(2)

Therefore, \(-\frac{3}{7}\) and \(-\frac{18}{42}\) are .
 
 
(ii) \(\frac{42}{7}\) and \(6\)
 
Proof:
 
\(\frac{42}{7}\) \(=\) \(\frac{6}{1}\)
