Refractive index of diamond with respect to glass is \(1.6\) and the absolute refractive index of glass is \(1.5\). Find out the absolute refractive index of diamond.

Let us consider,

\(n_{dg}\) - Refractive index of diamond with respect to glass

\(n_g\) - Absolute refractive index of glass

\(n_d\) - Absolute refractive index of diamond

Then,

\(n_{dg}\ =\ \frac{n_d}{n_g}\)
\(n_{dg}\ =\ {n_d} \times {n_g}\)
\(n_{dg}\ =\ \frac{n_g}{n_d}\)
