Lightning is a process of electric dischargeelectric outflowelectric charging can occur between two cloudsclouds and the earth's surface or even between two cloudsclouds and the earth's surface.

 

During lightning, electric charge may passmay not pass through landline telephone wires which is dangerous. Hence it is safer to use a wireless telephone instead of a landline telephone during lightning.
