State whether true or false. If false, correct the statement:

a. J.J. Thomson proposed that the nucleus of an atom contains only nucleons.

Thomson proposed the electrons are embedded in a positively charged sphere that represents an atom.
J.J. Thomson proposed that the nucleus of an atom contains only nucleons.

b. A neutron is formed by an electron and a proton combining together. Therefore, it is neutral.

Electrons have a negative charge, while protons have a positive charge. However, since a neutron has no charges, it is known as a neutral particle.
When an electron and a proton combine, they generate a neutron. As a result, it is neutral.
