Simple tissues are composed of a single type of cells that resemble one another.  More than one type of cell makes up complex tissues. Simple plant tissues include parenchyma, collenchyma, and sclerenchymaparenchyma, xylem, and sclerenchymaparenchyma, collenchyma, and phloem, whereas complex tissues include phloem and collenchymaxylem and phloemxylem and parenchyma. Simple tissues have two main purposes: protection and support. Complex tissues transport water and minerals and nutrientstransport only watertransport water and minerals from the plant's roots and leaves to various plant parts.
