Course of the Revolt
Kanbi-Patidar farmers were making a decent living through cotton, tobacco and dairy farming. However, plague disease and famine from \(1898\ \)to \(1906\ \)reduced their income. Yet, the officers insisted on the entire land revenue. The local peasants, therefore, started a no-tax campaign in the Kheda district in 1918. Later, Gandhi took the leadership of this movement.
Result
The government reduced the land revenue and ordered the officials to collect Revenue only from those farmers who were prepared to pay.
