The story is set in a place called Coimbatore, a bustling city in Tamil Nadu. Vetri was a rich and successful businessman. His business was a leading construction company, which constructed many buildings like houses, apartments, shopping complexes in the city of Coimbatore. His business was called Vetri Constructions.
Vetri Constructions was once a successful business!
After Vetri's father died, the business did not continue well. His brothers fought for their share from the property to start their own businesses, and the wealth was split between them. After the splitting of wealth, it was difficult for Vetri to start his business again. He borrowed money to run the business but could not repay the money. He was forced to sell all his properties to repay the loans. So Vetri's family moved a small house.
Vetri repaid his loans.
Vetri got a job and started living a normal life (as compared to his previous rich life). He always had the desire to start a new construction company, but he did not have the money to do so. Since he had already borrowed money and was unable to pay, he sold off his properties. Now, who will give him money again? No one was ready to lend him money. One day he was discussing this problem with his wife.

Vetri discussed his problem with his wife.
His wife suggested him to ask his friend Asif because Vetri had mentioned earlier that Asif was a good friend. Vetri replied that his friend Asif would be busy with his business in Chennai. Vetri's wife insisted that he should try asking his help. Vetri hesitated; he said it had been a long time since he saw him, and he wondered what his friend would think of him if he asked help from suddenly after a long time. Vetri's wife gave up, and she told him to forget the idea of starting the new business. After thinking deeply, Vetri decided to seek help from his friend. He informed his wife about the decision and started to Chennai in the next available train.

Vetri boarded the train. During his travel, he thought of his childhood memories. He thought about his schooldays. They lived in a village near Coimbatore, called Keelakudi. In the outskirts of the village, there was a middle school where Vetri had met Asif. Their friendship was very famous that the students and teachers would never forget about it. They always learnt and played together.
On the first day of school, when Vetri's parents left him in school, he started crying. Asif was the person who came to Vetri to console him, and he gave him a chocolate. Asif told Vetri not to cry and that he would play with him after the bell. After that incident, they had always stayed together, played together, learnt together. They also exchanged their food. Their relationship grew into a strong friendship over time. They both studied well and also helped each other in studies.
One day, there was an argument between the families of Vetri and Asif. Both the families stopped talking to each other, but Asif and Vetri did not care about it. They continued to be good friends. Everybody was surprised that their friendship was not disturbed by their parents' fight. There was competition between them, but it was productive - both of them improved without pulling down/defeating the other. No factor could change the friendship between them - not even their marks, exams or results. But their friendship continued only till tenth standard. Their families moved to different places - Vetri moved to Coimbatore and Asif moved to Chennai. Later Asif started his business in Chennai and settled down there itself. Vetri settled in Coimbatore. He always wanted to meet his friend Asif, but he never got the opportunity to visit Chennai.

After the train journey filled with memories, Vetri went straight to Asif's office. There was a security guard at the gate. He stopped Vetri and asked whom he wanted to meet. Vetri became nervous and told him that he wanted to meet his friend Asif. The security guard was shocked and told him that Asif was his MD (Managing Director). He asked if Vetri surely wanted to meet him. Vetri reluctantly said "yes" and that he was a friend from his native place. The security asked him to check with the reception as he was not sure if Vetri will get an appointment.
Vetri walked to the reception, and the receptionist asked him how she could help him.
Vetri walked to the reception.
Vetri asked if he could meet their MD. He also told her to inform that he was his friend Vetri from Keelakudi. As Vetri was saying that, the receptionist got up from her chair. There was a door behind Vetri, and the door opened. Someone patted Vetri on his back. It was Asif, and he had come out of his room to greet Vetri. He told that he saw Vetri through the CCTV camera and that Vetri had finally found him!
[CCTV camera (Closed-circuit  Television) is a device used for security purposes - it monitors the activities in the directions where the camera focuses.]
Vetri became speechless, as he did not expect this kind of welcome. Vetri calmed himself and told Asif that he never got a chance to visit Chennai. He further explained that he had come to Chennai now to attend his friend's wedding (he lied, he could not tell him straight that he had come to ask for his help, suddenly after so many years); and that he thought of meeting Asif also. Asif and Vetri spoke about their childhood and the fun memories they shared. Then they also discussed about their businesses.
Vetri and Asif discussed about their businesses.
Then Asif took Vetri to his house for lunch. At Asif's house, Asif's wife told that Vetri that everyone knew him, even though this was the first time they met him. This meant that Asif had shared a lot of information about Vetri to his wife, just like Vetri had shared information about Asif, to his wife. They both had not forgotten each other, even though it had been many years since they met. It proves that the friendship they shared was very strong. Vetri stayed in his house till evening and Asif dropped him off at the railway station.
Vetri reached home and shared all the details with his wife. She knew that her husband would have been hesitant to ask for help from his friend, so she did not ask anything else. After two days, Vetri received a phone call. The person on the other side asked if they were speaking to Vetri. Vetri replies, yes. The voice on the other side told that their MD Mr. Asif had assigned a new project to him. The person also told that Asif wanted to meet Vetri and whether he can come to Chennai. Vetri could not believe it. Asif had understood that Vetri needed help and had offered him a job. They were not in contact for many years still Asif had helped him at the right time. This is the meaning of true friendship.
