The process of converting scientific notation to decimal form can be determined using the following steps:
1. Shift the number of decimal mentioned in the power of \(10\) and add zeros if necessary.

2. If the power of \(10\) is positive shift the decimal to the right side. If the power of \(10\) is negative shift the decimal to the left side.

3. Write the number in decimal form.
Example:
Convert the following numbers into decimal form: (i) \(5.23 \times 10^3\) (ii) \(7.2 \times 10^{-4}\)

Solution:

(i) In the scientific notation \(5.23 \times 10^3\), the power of \(10\) is positive. So, let us shift the decimal to the right side. Thus, we have:

\(5.23 \times 10^{3} = 5230\)

Therefore, the decimal number is \(5230\)

(ii) In the scientific notation \(7.2 \times 10^{-4}\), the power of \(10\) is negative. So, let us shift the decimal to the left side. Thus, we have:

\(7.2 \times 10^{-4} = 0.00072\)

Therefore, the decimal number is \(0.00072\)
